Desucon Frostbite 2016

Yay, we're still alive after the anime convention! XD This was our first time attending Desucon Frostbite, though we were at summer Desucon last year. It took a while to go through all the photos and edit them, but I'm finally done!

Like I mentioned in the end of my previous post, we traveled to the con by car with Tiinyan, her brother and her brother's friend. Right after getting to the con, we attended a meet-up where all kinds of dolls were welcome. Some of the people we knew previously, some we saw for the first time. We had fun! :3

I had Susumi and Miu with me :3 I also had Kirari (Pureneemo Maya), but didn't get a good photo of her... You can see her in the group picture below though :)

After the meet-up, we went to check the artist alley and sales tables. There were a lot of people u_u; But I feel like there were not as many sellers as last year? The selection of plushies was quite small, unless you were looking for a huge Arpakasso. I would've loved to buy a smaller one, but didn't see them at all :/ Though I shouldn't complain about it, since my wallet likes it better this way, hahah...

After that we spent some time eating and just chatting :) I was holding Susu for the whole day and it was fun how a few people came to me and asked if they could take a picture of her~

We had wanted to go listen to a lecture about religion in anime, but it was apparently more popular than anyone had thought and didn't have space for everyone, so we went to another lecture. This one was about a director Makoto Shinkai's work. I've seen some of the short films he has worked on and didn't like them very much, but this lecture really opened my eyes and made me realize that I had been looking at completely wrong things in those films! Usually characters and/or plot are an important factor for me in anime, but Makoto Shinkai's work concentrates more on the stunning backgrounds and art. I definitely need to re-watch some of his films at some point! The lecture was very inspiring.

At 4pm it was time for the cosplay competitions. First there were the preliminaries for ECG (European Cosplay Gathering), which had both solos and groups (2-3 people). Then there was a Hall of Cosplay competition where the attendants had been picked from the cosplaying convention visitors on the same day.

Unfortunately I couldn't get any decent photos of the cosplays this time :( However, all of the ECG performances can be seen on Youtube!

We were supposed to go back to the con on Sunday, but Sarg had an awful migraine and was feeling nauseous, so we both ended up staying home. I didn't want to go alone ^^;

We didn't find a lot of things to buy from the con - surprisingly this time our loot consisted of just a few art prints and some Dollfie Dream accessories.

This Metal Gear Solid print obviously caught Sarg's eye and she wanted it for her "beard gallery", as we call the section of our living room that has pictures of bearded video game characters (Snake, Geralt, Adam Jensen, etc.) :DD

A random, but still awesome find was this art piece - The Magician from Moomins! It even has the panther and King's Ruby XD

As for the DD things, Susu got a winter hat and a matching pair of mittens! ♥ These are from the artist alley as well, made by Pihlajakoto~

Susu also got mittens in pastel pink color for sweet lolita coordinates :) I found out just before the convention that I'd be getting another DD girl (Takane Shijou) soon, so I bought the pastel blue mittens for her~

I fell in love with this rainbow-colored hat, had to get it as well... ^^;

Susu's dress is made by me~ I started working on it little by little a week before the con and finished it just in time!

Overall, the con was great even though it was a bit short for us ^^ Next month there'll be another anime convention that we're attending, we're already looking forward to that~

A daily dose of cuteness

Here are some BJD photos I took on Tuesday~ I uploaded them on my Flickr and DeviantArt accounts already, but thought that I could put them here on my blog as well :) I wish I would've taken more photos, but the weather wasn't the best possible (so windy and a bit rainy..) and I was afraid to pose these two SD sized dolls all by myself, I don't want them to fall and break their noses or fingers ; . ; Maybe I'll get to take some more shots once Sarg comes for a visit again and can act as a bodyguard in case either of them decides to fall XD

On left we have Ceci (Iplehouse nYID Emilia) and on left is Jade (Iplehouse nYID Mari) ^^ These two are best friends in my and Sarg's RP story and they're also in the same class at school. By appearance they may look quite different, but they both have rather insecure and shy personalities and also share lots of same interests (like cats and Hello Kitty, lol).

Jade is probably explaining how to bid on Yahoo Japan's Hello Kitty auctions or something... X''D

I've previously shared pictures of Jade with a black wig and black/pink color themed outfit, which is what my original plans for her style were. I'm usually very precise about what kind of style and colors I want my dolls/characters to wear, but with Jade I guess she'll get to be a bit of a chameleon and change between these couple of different styles. Her natural hair color is black, but she likes wearing colorful/pastel wigs sometimes and dressing up in pastel goth or gothic lolita ^^

Jade's pastel goth outfit took quite a while to get 100% completed, I think I slowly worked on it for a couple of months... It did took time to gather all the materials and plan the designs, but mainly I'm just such a lazy bun and have zero skills at concentration that everything takes a long, long time ^^; It doesn't matter though, for I love all the planning, designing, sewing and crafting, even if it seems to take a forever ♥

I'm not sure if any of my dolls has ever worn this much self-made stuff at once X'D Basically everything except the bag and shoes is self-made... The wig was originally long and curly, but I was bored one day and gave it a radical haircut :D I really like the result! (Yup, I have a thing for bob-cut hair, it's sooo cute...)

The skirt is actually made of a children's skirt that I had to buy after seeing it on sale X'D I would've wanted it in my own size, but they only had sizes up to 122cm and there was no way I would've fitted in that... So I unleashed my disappointment by tearing it apart and using the fabric for a doll sized skirt hahaha XD

For the shirt, I wanted to create something simple, but with some nice little details (like the studs on the neckline). I browsed through a bunch of pastel goth shirt designs while trying to figure out what kind of print I'd want on the shirt... In the end I didn't want to go for an already existing design, but to create something fun of my own! The leggings have simple crosses that I painted as well.

Then there're all the million accessories; hairband, Hello Kitty bow hairpin, rose/leather choker, star-shaped earrings, cross necklace, pastel bracelets and black stud bracelet... Shortly, a lot of stuff ^^;

February loot from Amiami

My February order from Amiami arrived really fast~ Me and Sarg decided to go for EMS shipping this time as the order included one Pureneemo (for Sarg) and we wanted to get her home as fast as possible! ♥ Surprisingly this package arrived even before my January order, which was sent by SAL Parcel nearly 3 weeks earlier... X''D It's now been one month of waiting for that one, so hopefully it'll finally be here soon-ish...

An adorable Cardcaptor Sakura plushie keychain! ♥ I must confess that I haven't watched nor read the series (even though it's been on my to-do list for ages...), but I adore the character design and love cute magic shoujo things in general so... Had to get this ^^;

Aaand a Sylvanian Families accessory set for my Picconeemos X'D I actually saw on Flickr that these fit the Picconeemos perfectly, so I just had to get the set... What can I say, I love little junk like this ^^;

The girls were surely excited about the new stuff, especially the camera, watches and hairbands XD I'm sure that I'll have so much fun taking photos of them~ 

Review: Knitted goods from GOdolls

I bring another review for you guys, this time of an Etsy shop GOdolls~

GOdolls is located in Madrid, Spain. They make knitted hats and scarves, and also some sewed clothes. They have many different style, color and size options available (from 3-4inch Pukipuki to 10-11inch Blythe, though this may depend on the style you want) and you can also ask for custom orders if you have something special in mind :)

Besides general styles, they also have a variety of adorable character hats, including Kyubi from Naruto, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, Minion from Despicable Me, Olaf from Frozen, Moogle from Final Fantasy and Totoro. Do check out their shop for more designs and don't be afraid to ask for a custom design if there's a particular character you'd like a hat of!!

• My experiences

This was my second time ordering from them and both experiences have been very pleasant! The customer service was extremely friendly all the time and I received photos of the finished products when they were ready to be shipped, which I found great :) They've never had any problems with my custom order requests either, all the products I've received have been perfect size and quality!

I first contacted Alexandra on October 22nd and asked if she could make a scarf and a custom size hat to fit my Soom Chici, whose head is a little bit smaller than Pukipuki's. It took a couple of days for us to discuss all the details and for her to find the yarn for the scarf, then on October 29th I sent the payment. Despite having a medical surgery and needing to rest, she tried to work really hard on her orders and finished mine in around 5 weeks. There may have been a little delay, but it didn't bother me at all and I completely understand due to her situation!

On December 5th she showed me a picture of the finished order and said that she'd be able to ship them on the following Tuesday. I received the package exactly one week later. Since the shop is in the EU, shipping was really cheap, fast and there was no need to fear the package being caught by the customs :3

This time my order included a 3-color striped hat and a matching scarf. I was really surprised when I received another hat as a free gift!! Alexandra did tell me that she'll include a little present for the delay, but I definitely wasn't expecting another hat ;___; (See how nice the owner of this shop is!)

On left you can see little Chici being all happy about her new hat and scarf, both fit perfectly and I'm especially surprised about how perfectly sized Alexandra managed to get the hat ♥ My faeries are still fighting over who gets to keep the gift hat, but here it's modeled by Sienna XD I really like it on her, so I guess it's hers now...

My dolls are really happy with their hats and I hope to order more in the future as well~
I highly recommend this shop, their products are awesome and the communication is so friendly! ^^
