Father's day

This post might come at a weird time if you are accustomed to celebrating Father's Day on some other day, but in Finland we celebrate it on the second Sunday of November, which is today for this year :3 I did some research and apparently most countries have Father's Day in June - only Finland, Sweden, Norway, Island and Estonia have it in November!

I don't know what kind of traditions other countries have for this day, but in Finland especially younger kids make cards and/or little presents for their fathers, there can also be a small cake that's eaten with family. Since we have some BJDs that are fathers, we wanted to take a few special photos for this day :) We chose to photograph Sarg's doll Marcus (Soom Hyperon), who has two lovely daughters, Marissa (my Soom Minette) and Meredy (Sarg's Soom Yrie) ♥

Marissa and Meredy made cute cards for their daddy! ♥

The girls want to mention a few things why Marcus is the best daddy in the world:

"Daddy is always there to comfort when we are sad or scared..."

"We can play with daddy and he is super strong!"

"Daddy is fun and good at many things!"

"Daddy is gentle and cares about others!"

I also took close-ups of the cards XD

Oh Marissa, you don't write the letter "Z" like that...

I also took some pictures of Marcus with his wife, but I'll save those for another blog post that I'll probably make in a few days :3 Marcus and Melanthe are very special dolls for us, so I want to talk a bit more about them and not mix the rambling with this Father's Day post. Stay tuned!

    1. Voi kiitos! :) Terkkuja niin pikkuisiltä kuin iskältäkin~ Etenkin suomalaisittain tuo Z näyttää vähän hassulle kirjoitettuna väärinpäin tuossa sanassa :''D

  2. Eikä, sydän tässä sulaa! X3 Hienot kortit tytöt olivat iskälle tehneet ♥

Toi on muuten jännä juttu, että isänpäivää vietetään muutamassa maassa eri aikaan. Outoa...

Jännä juttu joo tuo, että isänpäivä on eri aikaan joissain maissa! Jotenkin olin aina ennen ajatellut sen olevan samana päivänä joka puolella.

You've really nailed all the awesome things a dad does. *__* hehe <3

(It's interesting that Denmark celebrate Fathers Day on another day than the rest of the Nordic countries oO")

    1. Awww ;___; I luckily live quite close to my parents so I can visit them often... A few years back I lived farther away and often missed them when I couldn't see them in months :/
      Dads are awesome <3

Yeah that's quite weird! I have no idea on what basis some of the Nordic countries have it in November and some don't o_o You have Father's Day in June, right?

    2. I live quite far from my parents, so I miss them sometimes. But on the other hand, I appreciate them even more now, because I can't see them very often ^^
But yeah, dads are amazing! My dad is my hero <3

I'm not sure why its different, and why we are having it in June. Its not even celebrated as anything big. Just an appreciation day where you maybe do something special for your dad...I need to remember to do something for my dad next year. I always forget ;^;"

  5. Gorgeous photos and cards. I love that first photo of the two girls with their father. Reminds me of back when I was a kid and made cards like those for my dad.

It's always interesting to me when other countries celebrate certain events. I think for Australia it was in September. I can never remember to be honest. Hubby and I tend to have breakfast with my father and lunch or dinner with his. It's kind of like Christmas day in that way. We usually do lunch with his parents and dinner with my dad on that day so it turns out to be an all day event.

    1. Thank you :3 I used to make cards for my dad too when I was a kid, in Finland we often made something for Father's Day at school too!

I find it interesting too! I had never thought before that some countries would celebrate Father's Day on a different date. Some years we've had dinner together with the family, but this year my dad went on our cottage for the weekend so we just talked on the phone. Sarg's father was away too, but we're going to see the new Bond movie with him next weekend so it's like a Father's Day moved by a week XD

I gather their daddy loves to dress up as Jack Sparrow. :)

Hahah I guess he often hears that he looks like Jack Sparrow XD He does have a big similar style indeed! Though he sometimes wears a shorter wig too.
