Doll year 2016

This year is close to its end, so I figured I'd do a little overview on this year's doll purchases etc. :3 And I'm also planning to make a separate post for my next year's goals a bit later, probably after the New Year's Eve.

One of my doll-related goals for this year included "Do not buy more BJDs (besides Undine)", but that clearly didn't go too well... ^^; Souldoll Junia and Aehael don't technically count, but then Souldoll released Vito Calia that I also couldn't resist. Aaand fell in love with the adorable SIO2 Cat and got Miyadoll Vivienne as a gift ♥ As a cherry on top, I also found the perfect sculpt for Undine!

This year I didn't get as many Pureneemos as last year. I mainly focused on the new releases, as I already managed to hunt down most of my favorites from the past releases last year. The only older release that I bought this year was the lovely lavender-haired Nostalgic Story Sahra, which I'm super happy about! ♥

I've never really got along with male BJDs that well and have ended up selling my previous ones (besides Tony the frog hahah), but York has been on my wishlist for years and I just had to order him when Soom re-released him. Sarg has promised to help with his styling and all, so hopefully I'll be able to bond with him better than the other boys that I've had! He'll be a new shell for Malystryx, who I do like a lot as a character~

Raili was originally supposed to be released in late December, but sadly her release got delayed to mid January. I hope there won't be more delays, since I'm dying to get this little cutie home! >3<

Besides the ones listed above, I'm also in the process of trying to sell my Soom MD Captain Hook. Hope I manage to get him sold soon too. I always feel really stressed about selling dolls X'D But after selling these few that I wasn't really bonding with, I'm feeling much better about my crew.

• Other thoughts on 2016

I feel like this year was quite similar to 2015 in terms of activity, or I might've even been less active. I did sew a lot, but some of those clothes haven't been seen in photos yet ^^;; I've had many photo ideas on my mind, but lacked the energy and time for most of them. After a school day I usually feel very tired, so I just sew and/or play around with some of my dolls.

In my doll plans for 2016, I mentioned that I was hoping to find the perfect sculpt for my mermaid girl Undine and boom, that happened! That was definitely one of the highlights for this year. I'm also super happy about the meet-ups and the people I've gotten to know in this hobby ♥ There are times when I feel so exhausted that it's hard for me to socialize both IRL and online, but I hope to talk with people and comment as much as I can!

Overall, I'm feeling content with this year and looking forward to 2017!

• Doll plans for 2017

Would you believe me if I said that I have no BJD plans for next year? :D But I honestly don't! I already have all my characters as dolls and I'm trying hard not to give in to any tempting limited dolls. We'll see how it goes ;D

I am considering entering the lottery for DD Freyja or hunting her down from Y!J since I absolutely adore her smile and would love to have her in my DD family... She kinda reminds me of Uzuki Shimamura (one of my favorites from Volks' previous releases), but the second-hand prices for DDs are so outrageous that I doubt I'd ever get her as I don't want to pay so much for a vinyl doll. Freyja would be the perfect second option due to looking so much like Uzuki. My luck with the Volks lotteries hasn't been so good - I've lost all my entries, except Mariko, but I'm counting on being able to find Freyja (at least the head) one way or another!

When it comes to Azone dolls, I'm sure I'll end up getting a few... I already know for sure that I'll pre-order Snow Queen Mia in January, she is just gorgeous! ♥ And I'm hoping for Azone to release a nice Yuuta in the Otogi no Kuni series. I've also been keeping my eye on the Pureneemo releases of Love Live Sunshine characters, might cave in and get my favorite Kanan if she looks as nice as Chika and Riko ;w;

Merry Christmas 2016!

Here are the Christmas photos of my Picconeemos ^^ It was so much fun to decorate the Picco house with Christmas stuff - each girl has their own stocking on the wall, they have a little Christmas tree, presents, ginger breads, candy canes... And of course Christmas hats XD I sewed the hats last year and realized just before taking these photos that I only have five hats, but six Picconeemos - because Hisui arrived this year! That's why only a few of the hats are in use ;D I guess I need to make more hats for the next Christmas, hahah.

Miyadoll surprise box opening!

Today I have a very special box opening to share with you guys ^w^ A while ago Miyadoll had a giveaway on Instagram and I actually ended up as one of the three winners to get a yo-SD sized Vivienne head! D: I sent her a private message to request the skin color and asked if I could buy a body for the head, but Miyadoll told me that she had actually been preparing to surprise both me and Sarg by sending us full dolls as a Christmas present ;___; We've been exchanging messages with her for a while and feel so happy to know her, she is such a kind person ♥ We sent her a little Christmas present too, a box full of Finnish candy and cookies, but we could've never expected to get such a big gift from her... However, she told us that she wanted to thank us for being her friends and supporting her through hard times ♥

Giving a home to these dolls feels like a blessing for us and we hope to encourage people to support her work as well :3 There doesn't seem to be many people who own dolls from Miyadoll yet, so we are planning to share lots of skin color and body comparisons that people might find useful. Miyadoll has not asked us to advertise/promote her work in any way, it is just something that we want to do ourselves to show our gratitude and we honestly think that her dolls deserve more attention! We own some dolls that she has sculpted during working with other doll companies and absolutely love her work~

The box was veeeery big! Sarg bought that dreamy-eyed deer plushie recently, he wanted to be in the photo too XD

Both dolls came with their certificates, some extra string and 3 pairs of extra hands :3 Sarg also got a sleeping head and I got cute fox/cat ears! My girl is actually going to be a human character and won't need animal ears, but the moment I saw those ears I thought that they'd be just perfect for Gwyn (my bronze Cuprit), who has been needing a pair of wolf ears that are not too big :3

Metal plates on the heads

I took a quick comparison with Lulu to show what this body looks like compared to a regular yo-SD sized doll. Little Mocha is slightly taller and slimmer, but the head is the same size as other yo-SDs. Because I'm stupid, I didn't realize to undress Lulu for this photo, but I'm planning to take a better comparison later anyway and include Fairyland's Littlefee and Soom's Teenie Gem :3

I must say that I looove the way this body poses! ♥

Sarg's dreamy girl with temporary eyes and wig ♥ Sarg decided to name her Haneul, which actually means "sky" in Korean. Although she looks like a white skin doll in some photos, her skin color is actually violet grey. It's a light, cold-toned grey shade that looks really beautiful in person. Next to a white skin doll, the difference can be seen very clearly even in photos and the white skin doll looks very warm-toned.

And here is my little cutie pie, Miina~ ♥ She's borrowing eyes and wig from Lulu, since I didn't have any extras that would fit her ^^; I was thinking of blue eyes & brown hair color combo for her anyway, so this gave me a pretty good idea of what she'd look like. As a character, Miina is a Finnish girl, so I picked a Finnish name for her too. I wanted the name to start with the M letter to remind me of Miyadoll ♥

A bit crappy comparison, but the milktea skin color is actually quite close to Souldoll's sandy brown skin :3 I definitely need to take better color comparisons at some point, so that people who might be considering getting a doll from Miyadoll in milktea skin would have a better idea of how the color looks like in person. It is a really beautiful color!

We're both super happy with these dolls, they look adorable both in person and in photos ♥ We look forward to sharing more of them in the future, now we need to figure out what kinds of faceups they'll get!

I'll be staying at my parents' place for the Christmas holidays, but I'm planning to take some dolly Christmas photos beforehand and post them on the weekend :3 There also might be another doll arrival later this week, depending on the post service... I really hope that she'd make it home before Christmas! I actually ordered her back in July, so it's been a 5-month wait :''D

Forest girl & snow fairy

I took some photos for Azone Raili's birthday :3 Raili is actually an exchange student from Finland, so me and Sarg thought that a forest-like scenery would be perfect and built this little setting to our kitchen XD It features looots of fake snow, decorations and even real things from the nature! You can blame Sarg for the overdose of cute little animals, those are all hers XD

Anyway, I had so much fun with this set-up and I'm actually quite happy with the way the photos turned out~

The caramel-haired Raili is called Harumi, she belongs to Sarg! The grey-haired Raili is my Sayuri ♥

 

I would've loved to take some photos outside in real snow too, but sadly the weather is not very pretty right now... We don't have a lot of snow and it melts very quickly :/ Fingers crossed that we'd get more snow for Christmas! I'll be going to my parents' place and it'd be a good opportunity to take some outdoor photos - if the weather will co-operate with me :'D

Little meet-up with friends

Yesterday me and Sarg had a little doll meet-up with Tiinyan, Spica and Tsuki :3 We met inside the Helsinki Winter Garden, which is a beautiful free-entry place with over 200 different plants/flowers. It's a great spot for little get-togethers like this, there are some tables and benches, nice backgrounds for photos and usually it's also not so crowded (especially during the winter). We've taken some doll photos here with Sarg in the past, but this was the first time having an actual meet-up here. We totally need to go to the same place again! :3

Tiinyan's adorable Soom Ondiin ♥ Now I'm kinda regretting not ordering this cutie earlier this year, it looks so cute in person ;__; And much smaller than I had expected! I had thought that she'd be bigger, which is one of the reasons why I didn't order her... *sigh*

Iplehouse bull terrier, also owned by Tiinyan :) I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of pet/animal dolls Iplehouse will release in the future, the ones that I've been able to see in person have all looked amazing!

Miu met another Miu! And they were even wearing matching outfits with apple hats! XD This was not even planned in advance, a pure coincidence, hahah (Tiinyan's Miu on left, mine on right)

Tiinyan's Yuuta~ This is my favorite of the Pureneemo boys and I'm dying to get one for myself too X3 There still hasn't been a Yuuta release in the Otogi no Kuni/Fairytale series, so I'm hoping that Azone might release one sometime next year. I like the previous releases as well, but a new one might be the cutest, so I'm trying to be patient and wait!

Tsuki's lovely lady, Volks Lorina ♥ I actually dreamed about owning this sculpt at some point, but realized that she would not fit my crew after all, as all my resin SD girls have more mature faces :/ Still, I love admiring pictures of Lorina and it was great to see her in person!

...And a little house full of creepy Christmas gnomes .__. Honestly, their faces looked so scary! This house was the perfect house for Picconeemos and would've made a better photo background without these gnomes in there XD We didn't dare to remove them, lol.

Little foxy found a place with some Christmas lights, mushrooms and again - Christmas gnomes :'D Tried my best to frame the photo so that there wouldn't be any of them showing, but you can still see a glimpse of a few...

We're actually going to have another, a bit bigger doll meet-up next weekend - I'm already looking forward to that! ^w^
