Snow Halation Nozomi prize figure

As the title says, this post is about a SEGA prize figure that I recently got in the mail :) Nozomi is my favorite girl from Love Live, Snow Halation is one of my favorite songs and I love the outfits on it, so this figure was definitely a must-have for me! After getting Nendoroids and two prize figures of all nine girls, I decided not to get more figures of any other LL girls than Nozomi, unless they release something irresistible of one of my other favorites~

If you're not familiar with the term, you might be wondering what is a prize figure? They're often awarded in crane machines or lotteries in Japan and not usually available for pre-orders online like many other figures. So prizes can be a bit harder to get, but mostly have lower quality than scales and are thus cheaper. There are usually some prize figures for sale on Ebay, but they tend to be overpriced compared to the ones that appear on other places, like Amiami's preowned section and Yahoo Japan.

I won this Nozomi for only 1,480yen (~$13) from Yahoo Japan :)

The box is really pretty, I love all the little details on it! I feel like most of the time the boxes for prize figures are rather simple, but in my opinion this box could easily belong to a more expensive scale figure :)

Lovely artwork on one side~

The figure was protected really well! Some other SEGA prizes that I have, came only with some bubble wrap and cardboard around them, even though the boxes were about the same size as this one... I definitely prefer this way of packaging - it's really reassuring to see through the box that the figure is well-packed!

Out of the box after I put the pieces together (Nozomi and the "gate" thing attach to the base). This pose looks really cute and the figure seems overall pretty :)

This gate thing looks amazing! Bases for prize figures are often very plain, so I was definitely not expecting something like this when they released the news about the Snow Halation figures.

Nozomi's face looks true to the character and I love the painting job on her eyes! ♥ I think that prize figures often have issues in faces, so it was great to see that this one looks perfect ^^

The outfit looks good as well. There are some rough seems on the pink parts of the skirt, but you can't really see them unless you look really close. I love the soft pastel colors on this outfit, it would be awesome to create a cosplay of this someday~

The paint job on the shoes is not the best, but again, it doesn't bother me since it only shows up in closeups. Some little mistakes like that can be expected from such a cheap figure, but I think that the overall quality is amazing for the price!

Details on the gate

Even from close this looks just amazing! ♥

As an extra picture: Miu is a big Love Live fan too and wanted to show that she can pose like a true idol! :'D

Overall, I'm really happy with this figure and also positively surprised by the good quality! So far my favorite of the three Nozomi prizes that I have :3 I was hoping that I could've taken the figure outside for some photos in the snow, but I've been quite busy and also didn't want to risk getting a cold just before the weekend :/ Hopefully I can take the photos I wanted at later point then!

Speaking of the weekend, we'll be going to Desucon Frostbite, a Finnish anime convention in Lahti and also our first convention for this year, yay ^3^ There is a doll meet-up tomorrow morning and many of our friends are attending the con as well, so it'll be a great chance to spend some time with them~ This time we're not staying in a hotel - Lahti is only about one and a half hour bus ride away from us, so we're saving a lot of money by coming home for the night and then going back on Sunday morning. Tomorrow we get a ride to the con from Tiinyan & co. and we'll also get a ride back on Sunday evening ^^

If anyone of my readers is going and happens to see us, feel free to come say hi! I'm bringing Susumi with me at least on Saturday and a few Neemos as well :3

Have a great weekend everyone! ♥

  1. Oh goodness this figure is adorable. I don't follow the anime she is from but this design is really nice. Her face is well painted and the outfit is so cute. If the painting on the shoes ends up bugging you too much, you could probably fix it with a bit of paint.

I've never heard of these prize figures before but this one looks like great quality and the gate has some pretty amazing details.

Have fun at Desucon Frostbite! I am envious you guys have so many cons over there! Although we're supposed to be getting our very first anime convention here in April. That reminds me, I need to go and get tickets before they sell out.

    1. She is from Love Live, I do recommend checking it out if you're not familiar with the series :) You're right that those little painting mistakes could be easily fixed with a little bit of paint. I probably won't need to do that, I rarely look at my figures so carefully that it'd bother me. As long as the face is fine! XD

Prize figures can be great alternatives for scales, in some cases I feel like the prizes can look even better!

Thank you :) Oh, how cool that you'll be getting anime convention over there as well! Hope you manage to get the tickets for that, it'd be fun to see you post about it~ I wonder if things are really different compared to our conventions!

  3. That's such a cute figure - I love the way the skirt part of the outfit was sculpted so that it captures a sense of movement.

And the stand/gate is a nice shade of blue as well!

  4. Very sweet, I love the stand (gate), something about her outfit reminds me of ice cream. :) Perhaps it's the colours??? Anyway she's a lovely addition to your collection.

  5. She's adorable, I think the minor issues can be excused with such a great price! Perhaps you could fix some yourself with a sharp tiny knife?

Enjoy Desucon ~ I'm expecting your report with lots of pretty pictures!

    1. I don't mind the issues at all, for this price I think it's acceptable. Just wanted to point them out for the sake of the review :) I think the painting mistakes could be easily fixed with some point, but for me that's not necessary.

Thank you ^^ I'm a bit late with responding to comments... I just posted a little report about the con!

  6. I really hope they'll do Snow Halation Nendos, although it might not be good for the wallet, yours or mine XD The song is one of my favourites as well!
But on this figure, the gate is indeed a good-looking one. Gives a really nice backdrop for the figure :3

The figure is very neat! And for being a prize I think it's very detailed.
