A surprise gift

Today I received a lovely surprise gift from dear Irene and I thought I'd make a quick blog post about it ♥ Picking up the package from the post office was such a funny incident! I wasn't expecting a package, so it was a total surprise and I just couldn't figure out what it could be since I hadn't ordered anything, especially to my old address where my parents live and where the package had been sent to o_o

I was too curious so I opened the box before getting home ^^;; When I saw what's inside, my first thought was that apparently my Picconeemos had secretly bought a house?? :'D But then I saw the card with a message and realized who it was from!

I hurried home to take a better look at what's inside!

This little house-shaped cardboard box is sooo adorable XD I'm definitely going to use it for storing some of my Re-ments and other tiny props. I think it'd make a cute prop for some photos too!

And this is what was inside the house-shaped box! These are mooncakes, traditional Chinese pastries that are usually given to friends and relatives during the Mid-Autumn Festival :) What a coincidence that there were three of them - one for each of these girls to hold XD After receiving these, I realized that I actually have a mooncake miniature for my dolls! ♥ I got a bunch of different pastry miniatures in 1/12 scale from Taobao and never really knew that this one has a specific name and meaning, now I learned something new ^w^

The mooncakes tasted good, though quite different from the usual treats we have here in Finland! I think it's really fun to try out snacks from different countries, I'm always especially curious about the Asian food :)

A cute card with a picture of macaroons~ ♥ After taking the photo we put it on our kitchen wall, which also has many other cute cards and pictures on it :)

Two more school days and then my one-week autumn holiday starts! ^w^ We don't have any special plans for most of the week, so maybe I'll have time for sewing and other doll stuff. I admit that I haven't paid much attention to my dolls after I started playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn ^^; It's been a while since I last played a FF game and I'd forgotten how addictive they can be... This one is especially fun since it's a MMORPG that can be played with friends~ I just got my Scholar character to lvl 34 today ♥

  3. I'm sooo happy it arrived safely, haha! I was worried about this package (especially with food!) ~ Did you also guess the flavors of the fillings? :D

    I wish I could join you guys in FFXIV~ but I tried to install it a while ago and my old laptop just can't handle its prettiness T___T;;; I need to buy a new computer! xD;;;

    1. No worries, it arrived safely <3 Seems like the packages from there to Finland get better treatment than the packages from Finland to there? X''D I was having really hard time trying to guess what flavors the fillings are! I felt like the taste of the pastry itself was so unique and different to what I'm used to that it's really hard to put in words what it tastes like XD

Awww that's a shame :( I'm playing on PS4, my laptop wouldn't be able to handle the game either... The graphics are really pretty though and the game is really great, so if you end up buying a new computer at some point, you definitely need to get this game! (There are many different servers though, we're playing on the EU server called Cerberus)

  4. Oh wow, that little house looks so neat. And mooncakes! I love those. I get them regularly from our local asian stores. They have a very unique taste don't they? And what a cute little card. I've heard Macaroons are really hard to bake. I have a ton of recipes for them but have never tried my hand at making them yet. One of these days...

I think I've heard about that FF game. The last one I played was X and then I stopped because they changed the battle systems too much. I was already struggling with the one in X. I think my favourite though has to be FF8 and FF9. I hear Bravely Default for the 3DS is similar to the old school FF games with their battle systems.

    1. I love the little house :D Mooncakes were a fun new experience! Usually when I go to local Asian stores I get some noodles or spices, but it has never occurred to me that I might find some neat pastries as well!

We actually just bought a little baking recipe book that has many cute-looking macaroon recipes, hopefully we'll get to try them out at some point! I'm not that good at baking nor particularly interested in it, but Sarg loves baking so I'm sure she'll want to make some macaroons too XD The macaroons that I've bought have been good, but I'm sure self-made ones would be even better, if they succeed!

I really like FFX and FFXII, those are probably my favorites :) I've also played IV on Nintendo DS and it's a great game as well. I hope to try out the FF games for PS4 at some point, since we've only had a PS4 for a little while and I've never got the chance to play them before! I don't have a 3DS, so I don't know much about the newer DS games :( Bravery Default seems like an interesting game though, it's apparently getting a sequel next year too.

    1. I think so too~ It felt almost like it was birthday XD

Yes I ate them already! They all had a bit different flavors :) Maybe there are some local Asian stores that you could visit to see if they have any mooncakes?

    1. Hih, thank you x3 It was such a great surprise~ I don't know if any Asian food stores in Finland sell mooncakes? Or if it'd be possible to try baking them yourself? :3
