My anime menu for summer 2016

I'm maybe a bit late with sharing this since some of the series have been airing for a month already, but at least I've had some time to watch more than a few episodes ^^;

Previously I shared my "anime menu" for spring 2016. Once again, I recommend checking out Anichart to see which series are currently airing and which are going to air later, in case you're looking for some anime to watch~

Feel free to share your own favorites from this season too! ^3^

Love Live! Sunshine!!

Current Progress: 5/??

Being a big fan of Love Live and the original characters, I had a bit mixed feelings about this new series with different characters... But I have to say that I've enjoyed the episodes a lot! The characters have slowly started growing on me (my favorite girls at the moment are Dia and Kanan :3) and I'm looking forward to seeing how their journey goes. It's adorable how there are many mentions to μ's, like posters on the walls, clips of their performances, etc.

B-PROJECT: Kodou Ambitious

Current Progress: 4/12

I like idol anime, so naturally this series got added to my watchlist right away. I watched the first few episodes and thought that "oh, this is really similar to Uta no Prince-sama", but after doing some research I found out that the both series are actually from the same creators! So that explains the similarity XD The series has been fun so far and I'm a bit sad that it's going to be only 12 episodes... I could imagine this being quite popular in Japan, so hopefully there'll be at least a second season ;3;

Btw, my favorite characters are Goushi, Tatsuhiro and Tomohisa~ ♥

Show By Rock!! Short!!

Current Progress: 2/12

Having watched the Show By Rock series, I obviously was interested in seeing these short episodes as well. There doesn't seem to be any plot, they're just random events of the characters' lives. A second season of Show By Rock is going to start airing this autumn, so excited about that >3<

Bananya

Current Progress: 3/??

Cats in bananas has to be one of the silliest things ever X'D These are short 3-minute episodes and probably directed more at kids, but I find the series fun to watch and also a great way to learn some Japanese!

Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen

Current Progress: 3/12 (Mirai-hen) & 3/12 (Zetsubou-hen)

I really enjoyed the anime adaption of the first game and was curious about this new series as well, it's apparently not based on any of the games and a completely original new story! I try not to bond with any of the characters, since they are dying one by one and it's be hard for me if I find favorites and they die XD

The anime is split into two Arcs; Mirai-hen is a sequel to the Danganronpa 2 game, while Zetsubou-hen tells the background story of some of the characters. They're meant to be watched side by side (episode 1 of Mirai-hen, then episode 1 of Zetsubou-hen, then episode 2 of Mirai-hen, and so on).

My anime menu for spring 2016

I didn't write anything about the autumn animes, since I didn't find anything interesting to watch in that bunch (my previous anime menu was for summer 2015). In this post I'm also combining animes from both the winter and spring season, since there's not much for me this time either ^^; I've actually been quite lazy with watching anime after last summer, since my main focus (besides doll stuff) has been on games...

Besides the ones I'm talking more about below, there's also Pri Para 3rd season, but I'm behind and haven't finished even the first season yet :c I did see a few other series on the spring list that I found interesting, but I think I already have a plenty to watch and adding more to the list right now wouldn't be a good idea. We'll see if I watch the other series at a later point ^^

Oh and if you're interested in seeing what anime series are currently airing or will be airing later this year, take a look at Anichart!

Rilu Rilu Fairilu: Yousei no Door

Current Progress: 4/??

This has to be one of the cutest animes ever XD Although I do love darker and deeper stuff, I really enjoy watching some overly cute and random animes that make me feel happy. I do love faeries a lot too~ It was actually fun to see that there are many familiar voice actors: Hanae Natsuki (Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul), Uchida Aya (Kotori from Love Live), Kusuda Aina (Nozomi from Love Live), Atsushi Abe (Mashiro from Bakuman) and Megumi Toyoguchi (Revy from Black Lagoon).

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV

Current Progress: 1/5

How could a big Final Fantasy fan say no to this? >3< I'm so excited about the new game that'll be released in September and this anime adaptation seems great as well! Too bad that there will only be 5 episodes in total and the second ep most likely won't be released until June or so... Can't wait! The characters seem interesting and this'll be a nice treat while waiting for the game :3

Gyakuten Saiban: Sono "Shinjitsu", Igi Ari!

Current Progress: 2/??

This series is probably better known by the name Ace Attorney or Phoenix Wright :) It's another adaptation from a popular game. I've never gotten to play it myself, though I've always wanted to! I have high hopes for the anime series and I'm expecting an interesting plot with great characters. Since I've never played the game, nor read spoilers about what's going to happen (assuming that the anime will follow the same story), this'll be quite exciting >3<

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2

Current Progress: 0/12

To be honest, I lost my interest during the first season already and haven't finished even that ^^; The series does seem nice, but I've been having a hard time focusing on story-based animes lately... The second season will still go to my plan-to-watch list.

Terra Formars: Revenge

Current Progress: 0/??

This is a second season of Terra Formars. The basic plot is quite weird (humans fighting against giant humanoid cockroaches, what? :'D), but I still find this series surprisingly enjoyable! I've taken a liking to the characters (Michelle being my favorite, as she reminds me of my character Carmen ♥) and I really want to see what's gonna happen.

What about you guys? Are you watching anything this season? :)

My anime menu for summer 2015

As I mentioned in my spring 2015 anime menu post, I'm going to make a post for every season about all the new animes that I start to watch :) Most of the series that I'm planning to watch have already started airing, so here we go!

This time there weren't any series that I was familiar with in advance, I chose all of these just based on which animation style and storyline caught my interest. At this point they all seem very promising and I don't think I need to drop any series out this season!

Prison School

Current progress: 1/12

Hahah okay don't even ask :DD I have no idea why I started watching this, to be honest... I just saw the trailer and thought wtf, this sounds so dumb that I want to see it. But there actually seems to be potential in the series, the characters and setting seem funny :) I think it's quite unique as well, haven't ever heard of a similar series and it's refreshing to see something different for chance. The few upcoming episodes will probably tell what will become of this series, but I'm optimistic!

Gangsta

Current progress: 3/12

People often think that I only like cute things, but I'm actually a big fan of action stuff as well! I wanted to watch this series, since I thought it might be similar to Black Lagoon, another series (that I like) with "gangsters" and a lot of action XD They do have some similar elements and before doing some research I could've sworn that the creators of Gangsta had something to do with Black Lagoon as well, but it seems they're not connected at all.

The "story" has focused more on introducing and getting to know the characters so far, so I don't know what direction this series will go to, but I can say for sure that I've loved the three episodes that I've watched!

God Eater

Current progress: 1/13

I'm not familiar with the game this is based on, so the world and characters are brand new to me (I've only bumped into figures of the main female character :D). I'm not that impressed yet and the first episode seemed a bit boring to me, but I'll still watch a few more episodes to see how it goes. Though I have to say that I loved one character, the fierce instructor lady Tsubaki Amamiya who is voiced by Tanaka Atsuko (Bayonetta, Motoko in Ghost in the Shell, Caster in Fate/Stay Night), basically the most gorgeous strong female voice there is ;3; ♥♥ If the series turns out to be boring overall, I might keep watching just because of her lol :'D

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime

Current progress: 2/??

Snow White with red hair? Sounds interesting enough XD Though the setting looks a bit like a typical clichéd anime love story in progress. I don't have an opinion on the characters yet, somehow they don't really stand out, neither positively nor negatively... I'm not overly excited about the series, but interested enough to keep watching for now :3

The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls 2nd Season

Current progress: 0/12

Well, I've seen the first season and liked it, so naturally I want to see the second season as well XD This type of series are something that I watch mainly for the cute characters and positive attitude, not with any hard expectations. The first episode will be aired on next Saturday and I'm looking forward to it!

To sum up, I think Prison School and Gangsta are the series I'm most excited about in this bunch!

If you're watching some of these or any other of the summer animes, please do let me know your thoughts on them :)

My spring 2015 anime menu

I've been sick for the past few days (feeling much better already though!) and spent a lot of time watching anime, which actually gave me the thought of making a post about which anime series I'm watching this spring! :3 This post will focus on the series that have just started airing this month, AKA the spring 2015 anime. I do still have some "leftovers" from the earlier seasons that are either still airing or I haven't been able to finish watching due to my incredible laziness... But I won't be talking about those now ^^;

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks TV (2nd season)

Current progress: 1/13

If someone asks me what my favorite animes are, the Fate series is one of the first ones I always mention, so of course I'm watching this as well ♥ I could never get enough of Saber hahah, I love her sooo much XD This TV version has seemed a lot better than the Unlimited Bladeworks movie, which I didn't like that much. In general the Unlimited Bladeworks is probably my least favorite route, so I was quite positively surprised by the first season. Now I naturally have high hopes for the second one as well, but we'll see how this goes!

The opening song is really beautiful ;___; And I'm happy that the ending song is once again by Kalafina, I love their music so much and I think it fits this series perfectly ♥ All the background music is always so awesome as well~

Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love Revolutions / 3rd season

Current progress: 2/??

Fufufufu~ I looove this series and have been waiting for the start of the 3rd season ever since the 2nd ended XD ♥ I think this is one of those series that not necessarily has the greatest plot, but is filled with fun moments, nice music and has awesome characters~ I quite rarely hype over male characters in anime, but Jinguji Ren and Ichinose Tokiya definitely make an exception hahah XD Actually, I even have one of my BJDs, Rhyme, loosely based on Ren... And Tokiya's voice actor is one of my favorite seiyuus, Mamoru Miyano ♥

I love the opening and ending songs, though I can't stop laughing at how adorably dorky and stupid the dances always are, especially for the first episode's opening X'D I don't like the guys of Quartet Night (nor their singing) that much, so I'm glad that their silly dance wasn't the final opening song.

Overall, I'm really enjoying this season so far! ♥

Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Alternative Architecture

Current progress: 3/10

I've always been a huge GITS fan, so naturally I wanted to start watching this new series as well! To my disappointment it actually looks like these episodes are just re-caps of the Arise movies/OVAs, which I've already seen =.= Now that I looked at the info on the series more carefully, I did notice that they've marked it as an alternative version to the OVAs, but I'm still a bit disappointed as I was hoping for some new content. Apparently there's a chance that the last few episodes are completely new, but we'll see! I'm still gonna watch these episodes to refresh my memory, if nothing else XD

I love the look of Motoko in Stand Alone Complex, so it has taken a bit of time getting used to her totally different appearance in Arise. I've started to like it a bit more, but I still prefer the SAC version. I'm also not sure how I feel about Maaya Sakamoto as her voice actor... I guess it works since Motoko is younger in Arise, but I love Atsuko Tanaka's bad ass voice in SAC so this change was another thing that was hard to get used to XD Aaand another thing to mention is that I'm also forever a fan of Motoko/Batou shipping and there haven't been that many nice moments between them in Arise : <

Show By Rock!!

Current progress: 1/??

I've been looking forward to this anime ever since I read the news about it back in... September, I think? Being a fan of many similar cute, girly and cheerful music animes (such as Love Live and Pri Para), I was quite sure that I'd love this one as well and I was right! It was definitely quite different from what I was expecting, but I looove it! I think it even has the potential to become one of my favorite series ever ♥ I love the character designs, the plot and general idea behind the series sounds great and well... what can I say, I'm just such a sucker for series like this ^^;;

It was such a surprise to find out the this is the first voice acting role for Inagawa Eri, who is the seiyuu for the main character, Cyan! She seems so talented ♥ All the other main charas have experienced seiyuus, but you'd never notice the difference!

I really need some Nendoroids and other figures of the characters in my life, they're all so adorable! ♥ Especially the main character in her kitty form awwww~ And I actually thought that it'd be neat to make a cosplay outfit for one of my Iplehouse nYID girls ♥

Owari no Seraph

Current progress: 2/12

I only watched the trailer for this series recently, so it's currently the only series that I'm watching on a spur of the moment decision without any hype or high expectations.

I'm not familiar with the manga, so I don't really know much about the whole series...  The plot and setting seem interesting so far, but I'm not liking the main characters that much ^^; At this point the pink-haired vampire girl (apparently Krul Tepes?) that appears in the opening and ending themes, as well as briefly in the beginning of the first episode, is the only one that I'm excited about, though it seems that she might only be a supporting character and not appear that much in the episodes ;__; I felt like Owari no Seraph has some slight similarities with Attack on Titan, at least the setting of humans versus a superior race :D

There is potential for this to be a great series, so I guess I'll just need to watch more to find out!

***

So, that was it for now, I hope you enjoyed this post! I try to pick up some new series every season, so I'm probably going to make a similar post once the summer animes start in July :)

Is anyone watching some of the same series? What do you think of them?
Or do you have some other suggestions from the spring anime? :)

***

On another note, me and Sarg both managed to get tickets to Desucon, a summer anime convention in Lahti :) Those who visited another convention (Desucon Frostbite) earlier this year, got a chance to purchase their tickets before other people... And a friend of ours was able to purchase 3 tickets, but only needed one, so she kindly let us to buy the two ;___; Apparently the rest of the tickets were sold out in 6 minutes, so we were really lucky...

Hopefully we'll get to meet many of our friends there and have a great time~ I haven't been to an anime convention since 2008, so I'm quite excited and nervous as well :D I've been thinking of maybe even cosplaying, which I've never done before... But I don't know if I manage to come up with anything proper in time, knowing my laziness I'm not very optimistic X'D
