Doll year 2017

The year of 2017 is almost at its end, so it's time to take a look at what kind of doll year this was for me. I've usually also made a separate post about annual goals, but this year I'm skipping that... I miserably failed to reach any of the goals that I had set for this year and I also think that I won't try to make any for next year, because there's no telling how lazy or busy I'll be ^^; I'll just do whatever I feel like doing and try not to stress about things :3

My plan for this year was not to get more BJDs, but I still ended up getting one (York doesn't count, since he was ordered last year) :D That's pretty good though, luckily this year I didn't see any new releases that would've tempted me enough to order them. I'm pretty happy with my BJD crew currently, though sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed since I do have quite many... >.< I'm hoping that their numbers won't increase next year!

One of my goals for this year was to get DDS Freyja and I managed to get her home, even though I didn't win in the Volks lottery! I've been really happy with her, though I'm still not quite sure about her character...

I sold quite many dolls during this year, since I started to feel like there were some that didn't get much attention from me and I wanted to let those dolls go. I do miss some of them because of their characters, but selling them as dolls was still the right decision.

• Other thoughts on 2017

Overall 2017 was quite a shitty year for me, since I've been so tired and stressed because of the school etc... That has naturally affected my hobbies as well and I haven't been inspired to do much with my dolls :c On the other hand, just having them around in the house relieves the stress and reminds me why I am in the hobby ♥ I wish I would've been more active, taken more photos and sewn more - hopefully that will happen in 2018!

• Doll plans for 2018

The only solid doll plan that have I for now is to get a Dollfie Dream in TAN! I'm finally going to Japan in spring 2018 and that gives me the chance to bring home a tan girl, which can only be purchased from the Volks store in Akihabara! ♥ Besides her, I don't really have any plans. Actually, I'd prefer not to buy more dolls and focus on the ones I have, but we'll see... :D

Summer WonFes 2017

I was planning that my next blog post would be for some summery photos, but that'll have to wait a bit since WonFes happened X'D WonFes means that it's time for some figure news! There were lots of announcements and updates that caught my attention, so I'll be sharing some of my thoughts with you guys~

In my previous WonFes posts I've pretty much just listed everything randomly, but this time I decided to try arranging the figures in some kind of an order. I listed new announcements first, then grey prototypes and lastly colored figures :3 I decided to not include the Azone doll announcements this time, since there wasn't really anything that caught my interest...

Love Live Sunshine Kisekae World Nendoroid More series by Good Smile Company

As a big Love Live fan, I'm always excited to see new LL stuff, of course :D And this time there were not many LL announcements, but this Nendoroid More series seems interesting! Not the biggest fan of the outfits, but we'll see how they look on Nendos :)

Furikawa Nagisa Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

The announcement of this Nendoroid was probably the biggest WonFes surprise for me, but I'm very excited about her! Clannad is one of my all time favorite series and I looove Nagisa, so I definitely need this Nendo ♥ I really hope that GSC will make other characters from the series as well and it would be wonderful to see some Kanon characters as Nendos too ;___;

Kuro no Rider Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

It was quite obvious that there'd be some Fate/Apocrypha figure announcements :D I've been enjoying the anime so far and this character seems really interesting, so I might want to get him!

Aka no Saber Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Yay, more Nendoroids for my Saber collection! ♥ It's a shame that "Red Saber" has gotten such little screentime in the anime so far, but from what I've seen I'm definitely loving her character~ Also, her voice actor is Miyuki Sawashiro, who is my favorite seiyuu of all time so that makes her even more precious ♥♥ 

Fujita Tatara Nendoroid by Orange Rouge

I really like Ballroom no Youkoso and I hope there will be more Nendoroids from this series, since it'd be fun to display them together x3 I don't think that I'd get Tatara just on his own, but if he gets a partner, I'd be tempted...

I love Elf and was hoping to see her as a Nendoroid!! ♥ I have Sagiri Nendo on pre-order, so I obviously need to get this girl too :3

Jabami Yumeko Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

YES! ♥♥ Kakegurui seems to have become my favorite series from this anime season, even though I would've never guessed to love it so much... I don't know what it is about Yumeko's character, but I absolutely love her in all of her insanity XD This is going to be a must-have to my figure collection! ♥

Ahhh *____* I loooove her pose and expression, Kotobukiya has captured her character perfectly! ♥ Looking forward to seeing the finished figure~ If this still looks stunning when colored (and the price is reasonable), I might have to get her... >3<

This has to be one of the most gorgeous Saber figures that I've seen! If she doesn't end up looking weird colored, she might end up in my collection :3 That sofa would also make a nice photography prop for tiny dolls... XD

Looking good, Roy is definitely on my wishlist! I'm hoping that GSC will make Riza Nendoroid as well ;3; Roy x Riza was one of the first pairings that I got into and I still love them~

This is completely random, but something about this figure captured my eye ^^; Guess I really like fairies, huh... The artwork that it's based on looks really pretty too!

I've probably said it before, but I'm not really a fan of Vocaloid or Miku... But I really like how this one looks ;w; Since I have the Miku Harvest Moon Nendoroid, one could say that I have a weakness for this design? :'D Now if only they make this one with pastel hair as well...

This looks just so stunning that I have no words... *o* I have Madoka on pre-order and will definitely pre-order Homura as well, can't wait to get them home and display them together! ♥ I just hope that they fit in the place that I've reserved for them, otherwise I'm gonna have problems... XD

Ariel Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Yay finally pictures of Ariel! ♥ She's my favorite Disney character and means a lot to me, so I just have to get her x3 Her face does look a bit disappointing though, but I kinda knew to expect it. GSC just doesn't seem to be able to make the eyes look right for Disney Nendos, all of them have had this kind of weird expression... ^^;

These two looks so pretty and I love how their bases connect to form a circle when displayed together ♥ I talked with Sarg that she should get Taki and I could get Mitsuha... Or the other way around XD We watched Your Name recently and it was AMAZING! (If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend to watch it :3)

It's difficult to try to buy figures just of my two best Aqours girls (Mari and Kanan) when the other girls sometimes get such pretty figures with stunning outfits ;___; This Riko looks really pretty! ♥ Still, I'm trying hard to resist XD

I think that's all! There were quite a few iDOLM@STER related announcements/figures for display, but none of them were characters that I like the most so I'm thankfully safe from those XD All iM@S figures do look amazing though...

BJD crew changes & updates

Hey guys, it's been quite a while! ...Again. Unfortunately I haven't had much inspiration nor energy for the blog lately, mainly due to all the stress from school stuff :/ But now that I'm almost done with my practical exams and the summer break is just 2 weeks away, I'll hopefully manage to be more active here XD

There are some changes happening in my BJD crew right now, so I thought I could write a post about that.

First of all, I decided to sell a few BJDs. Some of these are actually very dear to me, but I just haven't been inspired to do anything with them for years, so I thought that it's finally the time to just let go and find new homes for them ;___; I don't want to have any dolls in my crew just for the sake of them being pretty, I also need to feel inspired by them.

I'm planning to re-shell Marissa as one of Miyadoll's sculpts at some point and I know that I'm gonna miss Deri and Ruri for sure, so I might get them back if I ever find new sculpts for them (Souldoll?). For the others I don't have any "comeback" plans so far. For now they'll just exist as characters in our RP story :3

There's also a new arrival that I haven't posted about on my blog yet. I received Ryx, my Soom ID75 York around 6 weeks ago, but he arrived with a head that didn't match the rest of the doll at all >.< I was so disappointed that I didn't want to post the box opening pictures anywhere. I had to send the head and a hand (for color matching) back to Soom and wait for them to send me another head, which I finally received this week.

I still don't think that the match is 100% perfect, but it's not really noticeable anymore. Now I'm happy with Ryx and hoping to show him with a faceup soon~ ♥ He only has boxers and shoes so far, so I need to make some clothes for him as well XD I could've worked on something while I was waiting for the new head, but the disappointing situation didn't really inspire me to do anything for him... Now that everything's okay, I can finally feel myself getting inspired by this guy!

I got my Frappzilla wig order a little before the replacement head arrived and it was great to see that this wig fits him perfectly! ♥ I had been a bit worried about the fit, since ID guys have quite huge heads XD I loooove this wig~ ♥ I think I'll add some extensions to the back though, just to make it a little bit longer and even better looking.

So, here is the post about my goals for the year and how I did last year! I feel like I was quite lazy, so my hopes and expectations for 2017 are high XD Looking back at last year's goals, I didn't do so good with them either...

Take a group photo of my complete Azone crew
Make a custom DD Saber

Only 2 out of 7... And even these two were just partly achieved XD I took the Azone group photo back in May and there have been many additions since then, so it's already quite outdated, lol. And my custom DD Saber project is still a work in-progress - she only has the head with faceup, eyes and wig.

Also, I actually managed to achieve an older goal from the 2015 list as me and Sarg finally found the perfect sofa for our 60cm+ dolls! XD

Goals not achieved in 2016:
Take a group photo of my complete BJD crew
Take more photos of my figures
Make more cosplays for Ceci
Do not buy more BJDs (besides Undine)
Visit Azone International and Volks stores in Japan

5 out of 7. I'm not surprised that I didn't take a group photo of my BJDs, since that would require so much work and I honestly have no idea where I could even fit everyone neatly X'D I also didn't take that many photos of my figures... I did have a few cosplay plans for Ceci, but didn't actually make any new cosplays for her.

Our Japan trip didn't happen in 2016, so obviously visiting Azone and Volks stores wasn't possible either. Hopefully we get to make our trip in 2018, when I'll (hopefully) graduate from my current school :3

These are my goals for this year:

Take a group photo of my complete BJD crew

New try this year, I guess? :'D The biggest challenge is having the time and energy for posing everybody in one place, as well as figuring out what would be a good place for the photo.

Take an updated group photo of my Azone crew

I'm also hoping to take an updated group photo of my Azone dolls, including the ones that have arrived after May 2016 when I took the previous group photo. Posing smaller dolls is not as time-consuming as posing the big BJDs, so I'm feeling quite confident that I'll be get at least this group photo crossed off my goal list.

Make a mermaid tail for Undine

As a mermaid, Undine definitely needs a pretty mermaid tail that I can use for some photoshoots! I've been looking for suitable materials and hopefully I can get the tail done before summer, since that'd be the only chance for taking outdoor photos this year >.<

Work on the custom DD Saber project

I would need to start working on clothes next and I'm hoping to make at least one of her outfits this year. Still haven't decided for sure, but it'll probably be either the blue or red dress... Though I do love the white Lily version as well ;w; So hard to decide which one to make first, lol. It'll also depend on the availability of the materials.

Sew Medeia's Queen outfit

Medeia's background story has changed quite a bit, from an ordinary shapeshifter to Solamnia's Queen disguised as an ordinary country girl :D I've sketched an outfit that I want to make for Medeia, it is going to be another long project. I already have a few photo ideas that would require this outfit, so I really need to get it done!

Make short BJD photo stories

I used to make some photo stories years ago (back when I mainly had MSD and yo-SD sized dolls) and it's something that I've missed doing. I'm hoping to start making some photo stories again, at least short ones :3

I've never really got along with male BJDs that well and have ended up selling my previous ones (besides Tony the frog hahah), but York has been on my wishlist for years and I just had to order him when Soom re-released him. Sarg has promised to help with his styling and all, so hopefully I'll be able to bond with him better than the other boys that I've had! He'll be a new shell for Malystryx, who I do like a lot as a character~

Raili was originally supposed to be released in late December, but sadly her release got delayed to mid January. I hope there won't be more delays, since I'm dying to get this little cutie home! >3<

Besides the ones listed above, I'm also in the process of trying to sell my Soom MD Captain Hook. Hope I manage to get him sold soon too. I always feel really stressed about selling dolls X'D But after selling these few that I wasn't really bonding with, I'm feeling much better about my crew.

• Other thoughts on 2016

I feel like this year was quite similar to 2015 in terms of activity, or I might've even been less active. I did sew a lot, but some of those clothes haven't been seen in photos yet ^^;; I've had many photo ideas on my mind, but lacked the energy and time for most of them. After a school day I usually feel very tired, so I just sew and/or play around with some of my dolls.

In my doll plans for 2016, I mentioned that I was hoping to find the perfect sculpt for my mermaid girl Undine and boom, that happened! That was definitely one of the highlights for this year. I'm also super happy about the meet-ups and the people I've gotten to know in this hobby ♥ There are times when I feel so exhausted that it's hard for me to socialize both IRL and online, but I hope to talk with people and comment as much as I can!

Overall, I'm feeling content with this year and looking forward to 2017!

• Doll plans for 2017

Would you believe me if I said that I have no BJD plans for next year? :D But I honestly don't! I already have all my characters as dolls and I'm trying hard not to give in to any tempting limited dolls. We'll see how it goes ;D

I am considering entering the lottery for DD Freyja or hunting her down from Y!J since I absolutely adore her smile and would love to have her in my DD family... She kinda reminds me of Uzuki Shimamura (one of my favorites from Volks' previous releases), but the second-hand prices for DDs are so outrageous that I doubt I'd ever get her as I don't want to pay so much for a vinyl doll. Freyja would be the perfect second option due to looking so much like Uzuki. My luck with the Volks lotteries hasn't been so good - I've lost all my entries, except Mariko, but I'm counting on being able to find Freyja (at least the head) one way or another!

When it comes to Azone dolls, I'm sure I'll end up getting a few... I already know for sure that I'll pre-order Snow Queen Mia in January, she is just gorgeous! ♥ And I'm hoping for Azone to release a nice Yuuta in the Otogi no Kuni series. I've also been keeping my eye on the Pureneemo releases of Love Live Sunshine characters, might cave in and get my favorite Kanan if she looks as nice as Chika and Riko ;w;

My anime menu for summer 2016

I'm maybe a bit late with sharing this since some of the series have been airing for a month already, but at least I've had some time to watch more than a few episodes ^^;

Love Live! Sunshine!!

Current Progress: 5/??

Being a big fan of Love Live and the original characters, I had a bit mixed feelings about this new series with different characters... But I have to say that I've enjoyed the episodes a lot! The characters have slowly started growing on me (my favorite girls at the moment are Dia and Kanan :3) and I'm looking forward to seeing how their journey goes. It's adorable how there are many mentions to μ's, like posters on the walls, clips of their performances, etc.

B-PROJECT: Kodou Ambitious

I like idol anime, so naturally this series got added to my watchlist right away. I watched the first few episodes and thought that "oh, this is really similar to Uta no Prince-sama", but after doing some research I found out that the both series are actually from the same creators! So that explains the similarity XD The series has been fun so far and I'm a bit sad that it's going to be only 12 episodes... I could imagine this being quite popular in Japan, so hopefully there'll be at least a second season ;3;

Btw, my favorite characters are Goushi, Tatsuhiro and Tomohisa~ ♥

Show By Rock!! Short!!

Current Progress: 2/12

Having watched the Show By Rock series, I obviously was interested in seeing these short episodes as well. There doesn't seem to be any plot, they're just random events of the characters' lives. A second season of Show By Rock is going to start airing this autumn, so excited about that >3<

Bananya

Current Progress: 3/??

Cats in bananas has to be one of the silliest things ever X'D These are short 3-minute episodes and probably directed more at kids, but I find the series fun to watch and also a great way to learn some Japanese!

Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen

Current Progress: 3/12 (Mirai-hen) & 3/12 (Zetsubou-hen) 

I really enjoyed the anime adaption of the first game and was curious about this new series as well, it's apparently not based on any of the games and a completely original new story! I try not to bond with any of the characters, since they are dying one by one and it's be hard for me if I find favorites and they die XD

The anime is split into two Arcs; Mirai-hen is a sequel to the Danganronpa 2 game, while Zetsubou-hen tells the background story of some of the characters. They're meant to be watched side by side (episode 1 of Mirai-hen, then episode 1 of Zetsubou-hen, then episode 2 of Mirai-hen, and so on).
